The café, designed in the form of a landmark structure, is a tribute to all tea aficionados. It offers numerous versions of the beverage, including the popular ‘Ginger shot.’

Vijay Raghavendra, the cafe’s proprietor and self-proclaimed history geek, relocated to Hyderabad for his degree studies. “I’ve always enjoyed reading history since I was a youngster.” During my graduate years, I lived near Central Library and spent more time there than in college. I spent a lot of time reading history books there. “At the time, I saw the Charminar from afar and fell in love with it,” Vijay adds.

Vijay, on the other hand, has never visited the Charminar since some of his friends warned him that at close quarters, it would not appear as appealing.

“A bunch of my buddies and I had arranged to go to Charminar. However, one of them stated that it does not appear as appealing at close quarters as it did from a distance. I haven’t gone near Charminar since, for fear of ruining my expectations.”

Vijay soon started his own firm, and it took him seven months to turn his ambition become a reality.

“The café took about 7 months to build.” During that period, I worked on many recipes for over two months. The contractor in charge of building the café abandoned the project halfway through, and I didn’t have much money left to finish it. But because this was my dream project, I opted to build the remainder myself. I gathered bamboo and other materials and built everything in it myself, even the furnishings.”

He claims that he now has 400-500 clients that come in every evening.

Tea In Hyderabad

“We provide milk-based teas such as Ginger tea, Elaichi tea, and others.” We also provide flower-infused teas such as hibiscus, rose petals, and chamomile. Each flower has therapeutic properties. Our philosophy is Chai with Health. “‘Ginger shot’ is one of the most popular teas here,” Vijay explains.

“I saw such a café for the first time,” says Sohail Khan, who frequents the cafe. The setting is amazing. It’s a good spot to hang out with friends. “I’m a regular.” “I am a regular here,” adds another client, Chandu. The tea tastes great. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the infrastructure is well-constructed. This is a novel notion in this context. Many young individuals come here. I enjoy the lemon and regular tea here.

FAQs

Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah constructed the Charminar in 1591. This square-shaped monument with four pillars and elaborate carvings is reported to have been erected in honour of his wife, Bhagmati. However, the real motive for establishing Charminar is still unknown.

There are several hypotheses as to why Charminar was erected, but the most widely accepted version is that it was created to commemorate the abolition of the Plague, which was rampant at the time. Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth king of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, erected the Charminar.
