Carroll Cup Coffee House opened in downtown Carroll on Dec. 3. Co-owner June Queen said business has been good since the grand opening. The coffee shop has four part-time employees and is looking to add a fifth. The building is more than 100 years old and once housed a hardware store.
She stated, “The community has really embraced it. “The community has been incredibly supportive. We’ve kept really busy and received a lot of encouraging feedback. Simply said, everything has been incredibly fortunate.”
The 75 E. Canal St. establishment serves the standard coffee house fare, emphasising espresso-based beverages.
Queen said, “We do espresso shots. “Lattes, cappuccinos, and speciality drinks are all things we offer. And drinks for the season. Additionally, we serve drip coffee, regular and decaf house blends.”
There are accessible baked goods like cinnamon rolls and others. According to Queen, cinnamon rolls are particularly well-liked.
The cinnamon rolls have been very popular, according to Queen. “They cannot be kept inside. So they sell off immediately in large quantities.”
Carroll Coffee Shop
Together with her husband, Don, Queen owns the coffee shop. She claimed that the new company had been under development for almost a year.
Queen stated, “I’ve wanted to do this for a long time. “We had our attention briefly drawn to this structure. I adore history, and I’m a member of the Carroll Area Historical Society. We have a historic home where we currently reside, and I have always been attracted by it.”
The more than 100-year-old structure formerly housed a hardware shop. Before the Queens purchased it, it had been used for storage for the previous 30 years or so. As a result, the majority of the remodelling was done by them.
The Queen’s entry into company ownership is with this venture. June Queen is a registered nurse who also conducts home-based data management services. Don Queen has retired from the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry. The Queens now employs four part-timers and is hoping to hire a fifth.
Carroll Cup Coffee House is open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday. According to Queen, if business demands it over the next few months, she might increase the hours. In addition, she said that she would make the building open for meetings and other events after regular business hours.
