Okayti Tea Estate, which produces some of the most popular orthodox Darjeeling teas, will showcase its best batches at Biofach in Germany. It is a proud time for everyone at the estate who works so hard to produce the highly regarded teas.
Experts say that Okayti’s agro-climatic conditions are one of the numerous reasons why the estate’s teas have a distinct flavour.
Okayti, located in the magical slopes of Darjeeling’s Mirik district, has been producing excellent blends since the late 1880s.
The new management, led by Rajeev Baid, has also developed the Okayti brand, which focuses on providing perfectly produced teas right from the garden to customers.
Okayti opted to go organic in 2009 in order to make farming more sustainable and environmentally beneficial. It takes around two years to fully achieve organic accreditation, and Okayti has been producing some of the greatest organic Darjeeling teas since then. ‘Although organic farming has some production disadvantages, we want to maintain our commitment to sustainability and fair trade,’ Baid said.
Biofach is the world’s largest trade fair for organic food and agriculture, held in Nuremberg, Germany, each February. ‘The entire Okayti team is overjoyed to announce our participation this year. We are excited to expand our network and showcase our country through our great organic teas.’ Baid was added. The fair is scheduled to take place in Germany from February 14th to February 17th, 2023.
Okayti will present some of its greatest teas, including seasonal flush, white, and green teas. “With our teas, we are representing the nation, and we will do it well,” Baid remarked.
